Sam and Nic Chapman, the Faces Behind Real Techniques® and Founders of Pixiwoo, Win YouTubers of the Year at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards 2017

Gurnee, Ill. (June 12, 2017) – Sam and Nic Chapman – the makeup artist sisters, founders of the popular YouTube channel Pixiwoo and co-designers behind the Real Techniques beauty brand – were named YouTubers of the Year at the prestigious Glamour Women of the Year Awards, held at the Berkeley Square Gardens in London on June 6, 2017.

Hosted by Glamour Magazine each June in the U.K., the awards honor extraordinary and inspirational women from a variety of fields ranging from entertainment to education to sports and business. The Chapmans are only the second recipients of the YouTubers of the Year honor, which was established as an official award category in 2016.

“It’s a real honor to be recognized by Glamour alongside so many other inspiring women,” said S. Chapman. “YouTube has really come a long way since we started nine years ago, and we are just so excited to be able to use this platform along with Real Techniques to continue to engage with and inspire our tremendous community of beauty lovers.”

Sam(antha) and Nic(ola) Chapman are U.K.-based makeup artists and YouTube sensations who grew up surrounded by makeup, including their aunt who was a top makeup artist for clients like Princess Diana and David Bowie. They studied professional makeup artistry and began to ply their trade in London. In 2008, to help a friend create a smoky eye effect, Sam uploaded a video to YouTube. From that, the Chapmans’ instructional makeup videos were born, transforming the sisters into visionaries who pioneered a new platform of makeup artistry through YouTube.

In 2010, Real Techniques approached Sam and Nic with the idea of creating the right tools to go along with the tips, and a brush collection was born in 2011. Since the relationship kicked off, the sisters and Real Techniques have grown their collective social community exponentially – from 30,000 initial video subscribers to more than 7 million beauty lovers across the globe. It’s not unusual for Sam and Nic’s videos to get nearly a million views each.

“By collaborating with Sam and Nic at the beginning of this beauty revolution, Real Techniques established credibility and a strong foundation among beauty lovers,” said Eva Oreskovich, Vice President of Global Marketing for Paris Presents Incorporated, the owner of the brand, Real Techniques. “We’re pleased to continue to leverage Sam and Nic’s passion and authenticity to be the ‘wing women’ of the beauty obsessed, and couldn’t be happier that Sam and Nic were recognized with this honor.”

Today, Sam and Nic continue their relationship with Real Techniques to provide innovative and professional-quality makeup tools at affordable prices to beauty lovers in more than 60 countries, along with inspiration and education through hundreds of online tutorials.
